Fes to Marrakech desert tour 3 days

    (364 Reviews)

There is a moment in Morocco when the landscape suddenly changes. The green hills around Fes begin to disappear, the roads climb through the Middle Atlas, and somewhere beyond the mountains, the golden Sahara begins to appear.

Our Fes to Marrakech desert tour 3 days is designed around that transformation. In just three days, you will travel from the historic streets of Fes to the dunes of Merzouga, sleep beneath the stars in the Sahara, cross the dramatic landscapes of the Dades Valley and Ouarzazate, and finally arrive in Marrakech.

This is more than a transfer from Fes to Marrakech. It is a short journey through some of Morocco’s most unforgettable landscapes.

    Tour Highlights
    • Ride a camel into the Sahara — Cross the golden dunes of Merzouga as the sun paints the desert sky.
    • Wake up to a desert sunrise — Start your day with unforgettable views over the endless Erg Chebbi dunes.
    • Cross the Middle & High Atlas — Travel through changing landscapes, mountain passes, valleys, and Berber villages.
    • Discover Ifrane & the Cedar Forest — Experience one of Morocco’s most unexpected landscapes and look out for Barbary macaques.
    • Walk through Todra Gorge — Stand beneath towering cliffs in one of southern Morocco’s most dramatic natural settings.
    • Spend the night in Dades Valley — Relax among rugged mountains, green oases, and traditional villages.
    • Step into Ait Ben Haddou — Explore the ancient earthen kasbah that has become one of Morocco’s most iconic landmarks.
    • Drive the legendary Tizi n’Tichka Pass — Enjoy spectacular views as you cross the High Atlas on the way to Marrakech.
    • Experience Morocco beyond the cities — One journey connecting mountains, desert, valleys, kasbahs, and local culture.

    Itinerary

    Day 1Fes → Ifrane → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga

Your 3 days tour from Fes to Marrakech begins in the morning with a private pickup from your accommodation in Fes.

The last glimpse of Fes fades away, and suddenly, the road opens into a new Morocco. Your first stop is Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco,” where European-style architecture and cedar forests create a surprising contrast to the Morocco many travelers imagine.

The road continues through the Middle Atlas Mountains toward Midelt, known for its beautiful mountain scenery and apple orchards. After lunch, you will continue through the spectacular Ziz Valley, where thousands of palm trees stretch through the desert landscape.

By late afternoon, you will reach Merzouga, at the edge of the Sahara.

    Here, the adventure truly begins.

Leave the vehicle behind and climb onto your camel as the sun slowly moves toward the horizon. The dunes turn golden and orange as you cross the Erg Chebbi desert toward your camp.

After arriving at the camp, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, listen to Berber music around the fire, and look up at a sky filled with stars.

    Overnight: Luxury Sahara Desert Camp.

Day 2Merzouga → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley

Wake up early if you can. Watching the first sunlight appear over the Sahara dunes is one of those moments that photographs never quite capture.

After breakfast, leave Merzouga and continue west toward the dramatic landscapes of southern Morocco.

The road takes you through traditional Berber villages and the famous Todra Gorge, where towering limestone cliffs rise on both sides of the valley. Take some time to walk through the gorge and enjoy its peaceful atmosphere.

From Todra, continue toward the Dades Valley, famous for its rugged mountains, winding roads and kasbahs scattered among the valley’s greenery.

As evening arrives, settle into your accommodation and enjoy the atmosphere of the valley.

    Overnight: Dades Valley.

Day 3Dades Valley → Ouarzazate → Ait Ben Haddou → Marrakech

After breakfast, your final day begins with a journey through one of Morocco’s most cinematic landscapes.

You will cross the Valley of Roses and continue toward Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the Sahara and an important filming location for international movies and television productions.

From here, the journey continues to Ait Ben Haddou, the famous fortified ksar and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk through its narrow streets, explore its ancient earthen buildings and take in the views from the top of the village.

Then comes the final mountain crossing.

Your route takes you over the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with dramatic views around every turn.

With the mountains behind you, the colors of Marrakech begin to appear, welcoming you to the final chapter of your journey.

The desert journey is over, but the memories of golden dunes, mountain roads, Berber villages and nights beneath the Sahara stars will stay with you long after you leave Morocco.
